Department of Architectural Engineering Organizes a Scientific Field Visit for the Students to Media Hall, Erbil
On Monday, October 13th, 2025, the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University – Erbil organized a scientific field visit to Media Hall in the city of Erbil, for the 3rd year students under the supervision of Dr. Nagham Ismael Yahya.
The students were warmly welcomed by (Shunyar Jalal Karem) the administrative staff of Media Hall, who expressed their appreciation for the academic visit and extended their full cooperation to facilitate the students’ exploration of the building and its interior spaces.
During the visit, Dr. Nagham Ismael Yahya delivered a comprehensive explanation of the architectural composition, spatial organization, circulation systems, and functional layout of the hall, which dates back several decades. Despite its age, Media Hall continues to stand as an exemplary model of design coherence and functional clarity, offering valuable insights for the students’ ongoing semester project — the design of a Cultural Center in Erbil.
The visit offered students firsthand exposure to the architectural elements of theater design, including aspects such as acoustics, lighting, spatial hierarchy, circulation, and the audience–stage relationship.
