Department of Business Administration Organizes Scientific Visit for Students
On Monday, November 17, 2025, the Department of Business Administration organized a scientific visit for second and third-stage students to the Trainers Training Academy in the Kurdistan Region.
The visit was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. The students were warmly received by Mr. Khalid Kamal Rashid. Afterwards, Mr. Kaifi Hassan Ali, Director of the Trainers Training Academy in the Kurdistan Region, shared about the history of the academy, noting that it was established in 2011 and officially began its practical operations in 2012. At the beginning, the institution was named the Swedish Academy because the Swedish company Scania provided financial support for three years, from 2011 to 2014. During this period, three departments were launched: Mechanics, Mobile Maintenance, and English Language.
During the visit, Mr. Kaifi explained that when the Mechanics Department first opened, only a small number of applicants registered. To address this, Scania offered a daily allowance of $6 to encourage individuals to join the program. At the end of each training course, participants received a certificate, a laptop, a tablet, and other materials.
He further clarified that in 2014, due to elections in Sweden, the Swedish government halted international funding. Consequently, the UN organization suspended its support for the academy. Cooperation later continued with Japan, which supported the academy from 2014 to 2018. Japan also contributed to opening new departments, including Cooking and Heavy Vehicle Driving. Initially, the Japanese company preferred the training to be exclusively for refugees; however, the administration insisted on allocating participation equally 50% for refugees and 50% for local residents of Erbil.
It was also noted that after Japan ended its support in 2018, collaboration began with Austria, which specialized in Greenhouse training. These training programs were conducted outside the academy for two years (2018–2020).
Mr. Kaifi informed the students that applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old. They are required to take an English language test, a computer assessment, and attend an in-person interview to determine their goals. He added that if a trainee is absent for three days, they lose the right to continue the course. He also mentioned that several new departments have been opened, including CCTV, Business, and SIYB.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Kaifi accompanied the group to the Mechanics, Computer, and English Language Departments, where instructors Mr. Govand Rasul Qadir and Mr. Ashti Ali Sharif provided further explanations about the programs. The supervising lecturer, Hevi Mohammed Qadir, expressed appreciation to all academy staff for their efforts and support for the students.
