Department of English Students Conduct Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign at Empire Avenue

On Monday, September 28, 2026, stage-three students from the Department of English at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a suicide prevention awareness campaign at Empire Avenue under the supervision of Lecturer Pola Tahseen Mohammad.

The activity was organized as part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September, raising public awareness about suicide prevention, emotional well-being, and the importance of creating supportive communities where people feel safe to speak about their struggles and seek help. The participating stage-three students included Tawar Anwar Aziz, Kazhyan Anwar Ali, and Bushra Karim Talim.

During the campaign, the students engaged with residents through awareness-raising activities focused on suicide prevention, emotional support, social connection, and community responsibility. They held interactive discussions and short interviews that encouraged participants to talk openly about emotional difficulties and understand the importance of supporting people who may be experiencing distress.

The students also shared inspiring messages, including ‘Speak Up, Reach Out, and Support One Another,’ emphasizing the importance of open communication, compassion, connection, and community support in promoting emotional well-being and suicide prevention.
