Department of Media Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Challenges Facing Television Anchors and Presenters
On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the Department of Media at Cihan University–Erbil organized a scientific seminar entitled ‘Challenges Facing Television Anchors and Presenters in Contemporary Media’ at the Cihan Academy for Training and Development Hall. The seminar was held under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim.
The seminar was delivered by Mr. Zana Kayani, a news anchor and presenter at Rudaw Media Network, in the presence of fourth-stage students from the department. At the beginning of the seminar, he discussed the preparations required before going live on air, emphasizing the importance of carefully drafting and reviewing news stories to ensure a thorough understanding of the information and accurate delivery of the message to the audience while avoiding professional and technical errors.
He also emphasized the importance of keeping up with daily developments and continuously following the latest information. He explained that media professionals must remain informed about political, social, and economic developments to manage and present broadcasts effectively during breaking news and unexpected live coverage. Furthermore, he described media work as a noble and rewarding profession that comes with considerable challenges. He stressed that passion and dedication are essential for overcoming these challenges and achieving lasting professional success.
Following the presentation, the floor was opened for discussion. Fourth-stage students actively participated by raising questions and sharing observations and opinions, creating an engaging academic atmosphere for exchanging professional perspectives and experiences.
In conclusion, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, the activity supervisor, extended his appreciation to Mr. Zana Kayani on behalf of the Head of the Department of Media for delivering the seminar. Both sides expressed their hope that the initiative would pave the way for further collaboration between the university and media organizations in the future.
