Department of Media Organizes Scientific Seminar on Modern Presenting in the Era of Digital and Social Media

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Department of Media at Cihan University–Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, organized a scientific seminar entitled ‘Modern Presenting in the Era of Digital and Social Media’ at Cihan Academy Hall for Training and Development, with the attendance of Second- and fourth-stage students from the department.

Mr. Hiwa Jamal, a prominent media figure and presenter at Rudaw Media Network, delivered the seminar. At the outset, he highlighted the core principles of media work, emphasizing the fundamental importance of reading and broad self-education across various disciplines as essential pillars for developing a competent presenter.

During another part of the seminar, Mr. Hiwa Jamal discussed contemporary styles of media presentation, explaining how presenters can effectively bridge and integrate television broadcasting with social media platforms. He also discussed the balance between presentation styles used on television and those used on digital platforms, while addressing media strategies and the impact and reception of news and information among audiences. Subsequently, the floor was opened for questions and dialogue, leading to an enriching and practical discussion in an engaging academic atmosphere. The speaker also shared his extensive professional and hands-on experience with the students by answering their questions and discussing the challenges of contemporary media work.

At the end of the seminar, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Hiwa Jamal for delivering the seminar and for presenting his translated book, “Talk Shows in Radio and Television,” as a gift to the attending students.
