Department of Medical Microbiology Visit Wadi Al-Fitr Mushroom Company

    On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, fourth-stage students from the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University-Erbil conducted a scientific visit to the Wadi Al-Fitr company, a specialized mushroom cultivation facility in Erbil. The visit was organized under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Sargul Mohammed Marif, the owner and supervisor of the facility. She provided a detailed overview of the project, explaining the processes involved in spore collection, cultivation techniques, and media preparation, as well as the provision of essential growth factors for optimal mushroom development.

During the visit, the students gained valuable insights into culturing and harvesting techniques. The tour concluded with a visit to the packaging and storage areas, where students observed the final stages of mushroom production. This educational experience proved highly beneficial, as mushrooms are a unique type of microorganism widely consumed as a source of nutrition.

At the end of the visit, Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed expressed gratitude to Mrs. Sargul Mohammed Marif for her hospitality and for providing the students with an invaluable learning opportunity.
