On Monday, February 2, 2026, under the supervision of the Head of Department, a student from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Naz Ahmed, presented a seminar titled ‘Dietary Awareness’ at Zhyar High School.
The seminar was warmly received by Miss Shaida Shakir, who emphasized the importance of strengthening students’ awareness of healthy lifestyle practices and supporting educational activities that benefit the school community. The event aimed to promote practical nutrition knowledge and encourage students to make informed choices in their daily meals and snacks, particularly during a stage when eating habits can significantly influence growth, energy levels, and academic performance.
During the seminar, Naz Ahmed explained the concept of dietary awareness and how it can be applied in everyday life. She highlighted the fundamentals of balanced eating, including selecting a variety of food groups, understanding portion sizes, and limiting excessive intake of sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats. The seminar also addressed common dietary misconceptions and discussed the importance of reading food labels and distinguishing between reliable nutrition guidance and misleading information. Additionally, the presentation offered simple, realistic strategies for students, such as planning healthier school snacks, maintaining regular meal patterns, and supporting hydration and physical activity as part of a healthy routine.
The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A session, allowing students to engage directly with the presenter, clarify key points, and share their experiences. The event reflected the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics’ commitment to community outreach and health education by connecting academic knowledge with practical awareness activities in schools.
