Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Students Explored Clinical Assessments at the Nutrition Diet Center
On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, second-year students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil visited the Nutrition Diet Center under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Ismat Khaliq.
Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Ali Hussein, the owner of the center, who provided them with an introduction to the center, including its facilities and services. The Nutrition Diet Center is furnished with advanced nutritional assessment tools and diagnostic equipment used for evaluating patients’ health and dietary needs. During the visit, the students observed and learned about various tests conducted at the center, including Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement, Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) analysis, body composition assessment, blood glucose testing, lipid profile evaluation, food intolerance testing, and dietary consultation procedures. Mr. Ali Hussein explained the significance of these tests in assessing nutritional status, diagnosing potential health risks, and formulating personalized diet plans for patients.
The visit provided the students with practical exposure to the professional applications of their studies, allowing them to gain insights into real-world nutritional assessments and dietary planning. It also enhanced their understanding of how scientific principles are applied in clinical nutrition to improve health outcomes.
