Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Students Visited Dalany Pharmacy for Practical Insights into Nutritional Supplements and Functional Foods
On Sunday, February 2, 2025, students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil visited Dalany Pharmacy under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mohammed M. Hussein. The visit provided students with practical insights into nutritional supplements and functional foods and their role in promoting health and well-being. Welcomed by the pharmacy’s professional staff, the students explored various categories of nutritional products, learning about their composition, benefits, and applications in clinical nutrition.
During the visit, students examined various supplements, including vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and herbal extracts, which commonly function to support different health conditions. The pharmacists highlighted the significance of vitamin D and calcium for bone health, omega-3 for cardiovascular support, and B-complex vitamins for energy metabolism. Additionally, discussions covered the role of antioxidants in disease prevention, probiotics for gut health, and protein supplements for muscle recovery. A special focus was given to functional foods, medical nutrition products, and nutraceuticals, emphasizing their importance in managing chronic diseases and enhancing overall well-being.
The interactive session allowed students to engage in discussions on clinical nutrition, patient safety, and regulatory aspects of dietary supplements.
