Department of Public Administration Organizes a Scientific Trip to the Syriac Heritage Museum in Erbil
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, a group of fourth-year students from the Department of Public Administration at Cihan University-Erbil organized a scientific trip to the Syriac Heritage Museum in Erbil under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Raz Azad Jalal. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the museum’s operations and cultural significance.
The students were received by Mr. Bernard Yousuf, Director of the Syriac Heritage Museum. During the visit, he emphasized the unique importance of the museum, noting that it is the first and only institution in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq dedicated to preserving, maintaining, and showcasing the tangible and intangible heritage of the Syriac people.
He explained that the museum displays traditional costumes, heritage artifacts, and a cultural exhibition hall featuring photographs and biographies of the most prominent figures of the Syriac national and cultural renaissance. He also highlighted its distinguished location overlooking the historic Qasra Hill in Ankawa and St. George’s Church, the oldest in the area.
This educational trip offered students valuable insights into the functioning of cultural institutions, allowing them to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications in public administration while deepening their appreciation of heritage preservation.
