Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies Organizes Advanced Workshop on MRI Safety Standards
The Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies at Cihan University–Erbil, in collaboration with Erbil International Hospital and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), conducted an intensive professional workshop on Magnetic Resonance Imaging Safety (MRI Safety). The event was held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Erbil International Hospital.
The workshop was attended by fourth-stage students, the Head of the Department, and members of the academic faculty. The program included specialized scientific sessions delivered by field experts, notably Mr. Nafith Abdul-Karimi, a specialist trainer, and Mr. Omar Adil Mohammed Ali, Head of the Radiological Imaging Technologies Department. These sessions emphasized the critical importance of MRI safety, highlighting it as a fundamental and essential competency for professionals in the medical imaging field.
During the event, Mr. Nafith Abdul-Karimi stressed the significance of the workshop, stating: “This initiative represents a crucial step toward enhancing the quality of professional training. Adhering to international MRI safety standards is vital for protecting both patients and medical staff.”
Participating students expressed strong appreciation for the workshop, noting that it provided them with valuable practical insights into MRI safety protocols. They emphasized that the training effectively bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real clinical practice, thereby enhancing their professional confidence and readiness for the labor market after graduation.
