English Language Department Students Conduct Breast Cancer Awareness Activity at Hawler Secondary School

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, second-stage students from the Department of English at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a breast cancer awareness activity at Hawler Secondary School as part of the global observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The activity was held under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Rozhin Hossein Hosseini. The students were warmly received by Mr. Mohamad Khales Ghoja, Principal of Hawler Secondary School.

During the activity, Siyav Hersh Ramiz Akram presented an educational video titled “The Story of the Pink Ribbon,” followed by an inspirational story about a breast cancer survivor.

Next, Tara Abdulkhaleq Hassan Rahman discussed important information about breast cancer that she had learned through her Comprehension course and reading. She discussed its risk factors, the importance of early detection, and the need to support patients and survivors.

Shahad Ahmed Mahdi Ahmed then highlighted the important role of family and community support in helping individuals affected by breast cancer.

To reinforce the awareness message through creativity and active participation, the Department of English students organized a breast cancer awareness poster activity.

They guided and encouraged the school pupils to participate by completing and decorating awareness posters featuring messages of hope, support, solidarity, and resilience.

The students also distributed pink ribbons to the school pupils as a symbol of support for breast cancer awareness and in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
