English Language Department Students Conduct Vocabulary Activities at Cihan International School

A group of third-stage students from the English Language Department conducted an educational vocabulary activity at Cihan International School on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, under the supervision of their Head of Department, Lecturer Pola Tahseen Mohammad. They were received by Mr. Mahmood Imad Mohammed, the school principal.

The activity began with Dlbren Lazgen Omer Othman introducing the different types of English prefixes and suffixes. He highlighted their importance for English language learners and explained how knowledge of prefixes and suffixes can support the development of the four main language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The students were also shown how these elements can be applied throughout their language-learning journey.

Following the introduction, Saba Ayad Abdulwahhab Abdulrazaq organized a group activity in which the students were asked to identify English prefixes. They worked collaboratively to analyze how prefixes contribute to meaning construction.

The next activity was conducted by Sahar Saddam Tawfeeq Aziz, who provided the students with a list of English suffixes. In this activity, they were asked to create new words by applying the suffixes to appropriate word forms.

The activities concluded with a discussion of the students’ answers, followed by immediate feedback. The importance of knowledge of English grammar and meaning construction when using affixes was also emphasized.
