January 29, 2026 Within the framework of cooperation between academic and educational institutions, and as part of student initiatives supporting the goals of sustainable development, two third-year students from the Department of General Education English Language Teaching specialization at Cihan University–Erbil Zahraa Ahmed and Huda Haji conducted a field visit to Sava Private School. During the visit, they delivered an educational and awareness-raising seminar titled ‘Mental Health During Adolescence,’ under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Rozhan Ali Khidr.
The student delegation was warmly received by the school administration, represented by the school principal, Mr. Muhannad Mustafa Qadir, in the presence of the educational counselor, Ms. Enas Saadi, and Ms. Hawrin Abdulrahman. The administration commended the importance of addressing such vital topics that directly affect students’ lives during this critical developmental stage.
The students presented a comprehensive lecture that addressed several key themes aimed at enhancing psychological awareness among adolescents. These included the concept of mental health, the challenges of adolescence, common psychological issues, and the complementary roles of both the school and the family. They emphasized that psychological awareness is a necessity rather than a luxury, noting that good mental health contributes to improved academic performance, emotional stability, and the development of problem-solving skills. The lecture also highlighted the importance of psychological guidance, awareness programs, and the support of cultural and sports activities.
At the end of the seminar, the students offered practical advice for maintaining mental well-being, such as effective time management, adequate sleep, and reducing excessive smartphone use. They also stressed the importance of seeking professional help when necessary.
