General Education Students Organize Seminar on Enhancing English Language Learning in Soran

On Thursady, February 6, 2025, third-year students Soran Rashad Hali and Akam Shkar Bakr from the General Education Department at Cihan University – Erbil conducted an educational seminar on Enhancing English Language Learning Skills at Nergzini Mixed Primary School in Soran. The event, held under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun, Head of the Department, aimed to help students improve their English proficiency through practical learning strategies.

The students were warmly welcomed by School Principal Mr. Salem Rasoul Mamo and the teaching staff. The seminar, attended by the principal, English language teachers, and students, focused on key aspects of language acquisition. Topics covered included the importance of mastering the four essential skills—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—along with effective self-training methods, pronunciation accuracy, and accessing global educational resources in English.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and posing questions, which the presenters addressed, fostering a dynamic and informative learning environment.

At the conclusion of the seminar, a symbolic gift was presented to the school administration on behalf of the General Education Department. In response, Principal Salem Rasoul Mamo expressed gratitude to the students, the department, and the Cihan University – Erbil administration for their commitment to enhancing education.

Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in community engagement while equipping students with practical teaching skills. He also highlighted that these activities contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the role of future educators in both academic and humanitarian fields.
