Under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Duaa Haider, the Informatics and Software Engineering Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a scientific visit to Digital City at Family Mall for third-year students on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. The visit was part of the department’s annual plan focusing on enhancing students’ practical skills and connecting theoretical knowledge with applied learning in the field of information technology.
The visit provided students with the opportunity to directly explore the latest advancements offered by leading global companies in computer devices and smart technologies, allowing them to observe the rapid developments in technologies used in both local and international job markets. This initiative is part of the department’s efforts to develop students’ practical capabilities and enable them to make informed decisions when selecting the tools and devices needed for their academic and research projects.
During the visit, the students explored various sections of the store, where they were introduced to the newest models of desktop and laptop computers, as well as tablets, smartphones, and their accessories. Detailed explanations were provided regarding the technical specifications of each device, including processor type, RAM capacity, storage size, battery performance, display technologies, and compatible operating systems. The students also received comparisons between different models in terms of performance, pricing, and suitability for academic or professional use.
The students also met with Mr. Mohammed Kamran, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the latest innovations in smart devices and provided an in-depth explanation of the differences between various brands. He offered practical advice to help students select the devices that best meet their needs—whether for programming, design, or research tasks.
