Insights from the 5th International Conference on Administrative and Financial Sciences at Cihan University-Erbil

On January 29 and 30, 2025, the theme of the Fifth International Joint Conference on Administrative and Financial Sciences was “Implementation of Artificial Intelligence Programs as a Fundamental Basis for the Development of Modern Business Organizations.” Researchers from universities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region debated the conference’s themes and content, with 58 scientific papers presented across various departments in the two fields.
At the conference, Dr. Thair Ahmed Al-Saadoun Al-Salman, Dean of Mosul University’s College of Administration and Economics, discussed the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in wise human resource allocation. He emphasized that AI is crucial to the growth of financial and economic systems, enhancing organizational effectiveness and output. “I advise those entering the fields of finance and banking to rely on modern administrative and financial systems to stay in tune with global developments,” he added. Dr. Al-Saadoun also highlighted the role of universities in guiding institutions on how to use AI appropriately. “Artificial intelligence has become one of the most important tools for organizational development,” he stated. He praised Cihan University-Erbil for hosting the fifth scientific conference, describing it as a model for private universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, thanks to the effective leadership of the President and the Board of Trustees. The conference focused on how AI contributes to optimal human resource investment.
Dr. Laura Bassem Bushra Al from the University of Mosul stated that the conference’s main goal was to foster cooperation between universities to raise the academic and scientific level. She thanked Cihan University-Erbil for selecting the important topic of artificial intelligence for the conference. She encouraged scientific research in fields such as finance and economics and acknowledged Cihan University-Erbil for its efforts in organizing the event.
Dr. Mayser Ibrahim Ahmed Al-Jubouri, from the Department of Industrial Management at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul, described the conference as a high-level scientific event. He noted that it provided an intellectual platform for researchers from Europe, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region to engage with one another. He emphasized that such conferences foster a high level of debate and contribute significantly to advancing AI-related ideas. He added that AI remains one of the most pressing global concerns for researchers and decision-makers. Dr. Al-Jubouri praised Cihan University-Erbil and its partner universities for organizing the conference professionally and scientifically, seeing it as a crucial step in addressing global issues. He hoped that the conference’s recommendations and outcomes would support strategic decisions and advance scientific research.
At the same time, Assistant Lecturer Diyar Mustafa Khoshnaw, a lecturer at Cihan University-Erbil, gave a brief presentation on his research. He also described the conference as a significant scientific gathering where scholars and researchers from various nations presented their work.
Assistant Professor Dr. Raad Abdulkarim Sharif from Erbil Polytechnic University, who has conducted research on artificial intelligence, discussed AI’s useful and significant role across various sectors, particularly in understanding consumer and individual preferences. He acknowledged the numerous advantages AI offers to social media and industry but also cautioned about potential risks, including the release of inaccurate or personal information. Dr. Sharif expressed his gratitude to the conference organizers, the scientific committee, and Cihan University-Erbil for their efforts.
