Interior Design Engineering Students Conduct a Scientific Field Visit to the Radisson Hotel & Residence Erbil
On Monday, October 13, 2025, fourth-year students from the Department of Interior Design Engineering at Cihan University–Erbil carried out a scientific field visit to the Radisson Hotel & Residence Erbil, under the supervision of Mrs. Sana Nabeel Najib and Assistant Lecturer Aws Ahmed Abdulhameed.
The students were warmly received by Mr. Mustafa Mohammed Maroof, the supervising engineer of the hotel, who delivered a detailed presentation on the overall design concept of the project. His presentation covered the distribution of residential and service spaces, the approach to achieving visual and functional integration between them, and the selection of finishing materials imported from various sources both natural and synthetic highlighting their role in enhancing the aesthetic identity and ensuring the functional quality of the spaces.
During the tour, the students observed practical details related to the organization of interior spaces, the distribution of natural and artificial lighting, and the design of public and private areas within the hotel to achieve a balance between comfort, beauty, and privacy. They also noted the harmony of colors, the selection of furniture and decorative elements consistent with the hotel’s brand identity, and the treatment of ceilings, walls, and floors using materials that create diverse spatial experiences within the same environment.
Throughout the visit, Mrs. Sana guided the students in analyzing design elements, emphasizing the relationship between function, aesthetics, and visual identity in practical projects. The students appreciated the opportunity to connect theory with practice, while Assistant Lecturer Aws highlighted the importance of studying modern architecture as a source of inspiration for contemporary interior design.
