International Education Day: Computer Science Department Organizes Workshop on the Role of AI in Education for Students

On the occasion of International Education Day and under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Alia Asaad Mahdi, the Department of Computer Science at Cihan University–Erbil organized a scientific workshop for students titled “AI in Academic Environments: From Prompt Engineering to Ethical Integration.”

The workshop, held at the university’s conference hall, featured several key sessions presented by students. Abdulwahab Abdullah Ibrahim delivered an in-depth presentation on the fundamental principles of Artificial Intelligence and its historical development. This was followed by a session on Prompt Engineering by Najia Nawzad Qadir, who explained strategies for crafting precise queries to obtain accurate and reliable research results.

Ibrahim Rahwan Salih then demonstrated the practical applications of AI in streamlining academic tasks, such as creating professional PowerPoint presentations and visual media. The workshop concluded with an open discussion on Ethics of Use and Academic Integrity, led by Yasser Amer Abduljabbar and Zakaria Sirwan. They emphasized that AI tools should assist rather than replace human critical thinking.

Overall, the workshop highlighted that AI is a strategic partner in education, requiring specific skills and awareness to enhance the quality of academic learning.
