KRG Higher Education Delegation, Including Cihan University-Erbil President, Visits AGH University of Krakow

Continuing its official mission in Poland, a high-level delegation from the Kurdish Government’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited AGH University of Krakow for Technology on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
The delegation, led by Dr. Amir Chali, Undersecretary, included Dr. Mohammed Kalari, Head of Supervision and Quality Assurance; Dr. Sabah Ibrahim Wais, Ministry Adviser; Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil; and the presidents of Salahaddin University, Erbil Polytechnic University, and Tishk International University.
The delegation was warmly received by Professor Jerzy Lis, Rector of AGH University, together with Professor Rafał Wiśniowski, Vice-Rector for Cooperation, and Associate Professor Dr. Jarosław Konieczny, Dean of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics.
The meeting commenced with a briefing by Dr. Amir Chali on the higher education landscape and scientific infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region. In response, the Rector of AGH highlighted the university’s global standing as a leading centre of excellence in a technology hub, specifically in robotics and engineering.
The presidents of the participating universities then outlined their respective internationalization strategies, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation. Notably, Professor Dr. Amjad presented Cihan University-Erbil’s strategic roadmap for establishing advanced robotics laboratories and highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific collaboration with leading Polish institutions.
