Law Department Students Visit the Adult Rehabilitation Directorate in Erbil

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, third-year students from the Law Department at Cihan University–Erbil visited the Adult Rehabilitation Directorate in Erbil. The visit was supervised by student Karokh Saran Latif, the representative of the third stage.

The students were received by Mr. Raed Farhad, a Social Researcher, who delivered an engaging and comprehensive lecture. The lecture covered key topics related to the rights and obligations of inmates within correctional institutions, with strong emphasis on the importance of ensuring dignified living conditions and treating convicted individuals humanely in accordance with human rights laws.

The lecture also highlighted the cooperation and coordination between the Directorate and other ministries to overcome obstacles and ease the burden on workflow.

During the visit, the students toured various sections, gaining firsthand insight into the Directorate’s operations and the conditions of the convicted individuals. The visit included interviews with some inmates, focusing on their experiences and views of the institution’s legal system, with emphasis on their rights to humane treatment, healthcare, education, and family visitation.

In conclusion, the students expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the Directorate staff who supervised this valuable visit.
