Media Department Students Conduct Humanitarian Field Visit to Erbil Home for the Elderly
On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, as part of its field and humanitarian activities, a group of third-stage students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a field visit to the Erbil Home for the Elderly under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismail Mawlood. The activity aimed to familiarize students with the social environment and to promote high human values.
Upon arrival, the student delegation and the supervising lecturer were warmly received by the administration of the Erbil Home for the Elderly. The students then toured various sections of the facility to gain insight into the residents’ lifestyle, as well as the health and social services provided to the elderly.
During the visit, Mr. Aso Qadir, a supervisor at the Erbil Home for the Elderly, delivered a detailed and informative seminar to the students. In the first part of the seminar, he emphasized the importance of preserving the dignity and status of the elderly, noting that this group represents a valuable source of intellectual and life experience within society. He stressed the need to protect their human dignity by providing a calm environment and respecting their privacy at all times.
In the second part, Mr. Qadir focused on understanding the psychological and physical aspects associated with different stages of aging, particularly the psychological changes that occur in old age. He also discussed appropriate ways to address issues such as geriatric depression and feelings of loneliness.
At the conclusion of the activity, the administration of the Erbil Home for the Elderly expressed their appreciation to the supervising lecturer and the students for the visit, emphasizing that such initiatives encourage continued care and support for the elderly in society.
