Media Department Students Present Seminar on Artificial Intelligence at Daraban Mixed Secondary School

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, third-stage students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismail Mawlood, conducted a seminar titled Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Government Institutions and social media at Daraban Mixed Secondary School.

The students were warmly received by Mr. Tal’at Hamid, the principal of Daraban Mixed Secondary School, who praised the initiative by the Media Department, particularly for addressing the important topic of Artificial Intelligence.

The seminar was presented by third-stage students Essam Obeid and Rasan Qani, who provided a detailed overview of the latest technological developments and the impact of AI on various sectors. In the first part of the seminar, they discussed the significant role of AI in improving administration and accelerating procedures in government departments. They explained how AI can reduce bureaucracy, organize data with high accuracy, and achieve faster results in public services.

In the second part, the students critically examined the positive and negative aspects of AI in social networks and educational institutions, such as schools and universities. They noted that, while AI offers great benefits in information retrieval and learning development, caution is needed regarding risks such as the invasion of personal privacy and potential social effects on young people.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Tal’at Hamid the principal of Daraban School thanked the Media Department students for presenting the seminar, noting that it effectively raised awareness and enhanced the knowledge of the attending students.
