Media Department Students Visit Speda Satellite Channel

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, first-year students from the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil visited Speda Satellite Channel in Erbil as part of their academic activities, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim.

The supervising lecturer and students were received by Mr. Kawa Arif, Director of Relations at Speda Satellite Channel, who introduced them to Mr. Ghazi Ali Ali, the General Director of the channel, who expressed his pleasure at the visit. Subsequently, he delivered his speech to the students, highlighting media work in the Kurdistan Region, the opportunities and challenges facing media professionals, and the importance of academic education in the field of media for aspiring journalists. Additionally, he presented the channel’s initial undertakings into satellite broadcasting and the goals they aim to achieve.

The students later toured the channel’s newsroom and news studios, gaining firsthand insights into how news is produced and how live television broadcasts are presented. They also observed the operations of the control room up close and visited additional studios, as well as the channel’s editing room.

At the end of the visit, the supervising lecturer expressed thanks and appreciation to the director and staff of Speda Satellite Channel on behalf of the Head of the Media Department. He also expressed hope that the relationship between the channel and the department will continue.
