Media Department Students Visit Xebat Newspaper in Erbil

In a scientific activity, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, a group of Media Department students at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer (Dlan Ismail Mawlood), visited Xebat Newspaper in the city of Erbil.

The supervising lecturer and students were welcomed by Mr. (Shkar Naqshbandi), head of the newspaper’s design department, who expressed his pleasure with the visit of the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil. At the beginning of the scientific visit, Mr. Shkar Naqshbandi discussed the brief history of Xebat Newspaper and pointed out the changes that have occurred to the newspaper during its publication period and continuation until now.

In continuation of the visit, students closely toured the various departments of the newspaper, including the writers’ section and the printing section. In the writers’ section, students learned about the process of preparing news and journalistic topics and how manuscripts are reviewed and prepared for publication. Mr. Shkar Naqshbandi discussed the importance of clean and clear manuscripts, and how writers must ensure the accuracy and precision of their information before sending their materials to the design section. In the printing section, students witnessed the complete process of printing the newspaper, from beginning to the final copy’s release. There was also discussion about the importance of the newspaper’s publication time and how all newspaper departments must work with precision and speed so that the newspaper reaches readers’ hands at the specified time.

In conclusion, the supervising instructor thanked Mr. Shkar Naqshbandi for providing explanations and guidance about the newspaper’s work today, hoping that this relationship will be a beginning for better service to journalistic work by both the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil and Xebat Newspaper in Erbil.
