Medical Laboratory Analysis Department Students Deliver Awareness Presentation at Kobani Intermediate School

On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis at Cihan University-Erbil visited Kobani Intermediate School under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Sally Khalil Baqer. They were received by the school principal, Mr. Sabah Sorkan Ahmed. The visit included presentations on the causes of road traffic accidents and the importance of knowing one’s blood group, along with a practical blood-typing activity.

The first presentation was delivered by Meaad Ali Nabi, who explained the common causes of road traffic accidents, such as speeding and failure to follow traffic rules, and how these factors can lead to accidents.

Next, Dunya Osama Jalal discussed the importance of staying attentive while driving and avoiding phone use, offering students simple guidance on preventing road traffic accidents.

Additionally, the importance of knowing one’s blood group in emergencies was highlighted by Layla Isam Mohamed. She explained that this information can be useful during the medical assessment of an injured person, while blood transfusion still requires compatibility testing at a healthcare facility.

The final presentation, delivered by Shereen Asaad Saeed, focused on how blood groups are determined and included a demonstration and practical blood-typing activity with the participation of the school students, allowing them to observe the procedure directly.

The visit ended with a discussion during which the school students asked questions about road traffic accidents and blood groups. The presenters answered their questions, helping them connect the lecture with the practical activity.
