Medical Laboratory Analysis Department Students Visited Farabi Laboratory

On Monday, February 17, 2025, first-stage Medical Laboratory Analysis Department students visited Farabi Laboratory under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Daban Kanbi. This visit was held under the management of Dr. Nasser Qasim in Erbil, 40 Meter Street. They were received by the laboratory supervisor, Ms. Azada Faramarz Yadullah.

The students took a tour of the Genetics Department’s laboratory and were provided with an explanation of the laboratory, which includes DNA extraction and how to perform genetic tests using different techniques, including PCR approaches, which rely on conventional and real-time methods. They were also given descriptions of how to read the mutation that occurs within genes, which leads to the acquisition of diseases. Additionally, they had the opportunity to learn about the electrophoresis device and how to read the results of different genetic tests. Thus, they understood the difference between routine tests performed in regular laboratories and genetic tests conducted in genetic laboratories.

Finally, they thanked the lab staff for sharing valuable information that increased their understanding of the wide area of medical analysis laboratories.
