Medical Microbiology Department Students Conduct Scientific Visit to Floria Laboratory
On November 5, 2025, second-year students from the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University–Erbil conducted an educational field visit to Floria Laboratory, one of Erbil’s leading diagnostic centers. The visit was held under the academic supervision of Dr. Khawaja Shakeel Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Medical Microbiology, to provide students with practical exposure to modern laboratory techniques and diagnostic technologies.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Mr. Frya Taib Abdulrahman, Director of Floria Laboratory, who delivered an informative overview of the laboratory’s divisions and specialized diagnostic services. During the visit, the students engaged in hands-on practice using advanced laboratory instruments, including automated analyzers, microbial identification systems, and digital microscopy devices. They also observed professional diagnostic workflows such as sample processing, culture analysis, and quality control protocols applied in clinical microbiology. The visit enriched the students’ practical understanding and helped bridge the gap between theoretical instruction and professional laboratory practice.
At the conclusion of the visit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khawaja Shakeel Ahmed expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Frya Taib Abdulrahman and the staff of Floria Laboratory for their cooperation and hospitality. He emphasized that such scientific visits play a pivotal role in enhancing students’ technical proficiency and preparing them for future professional practice in the field of medical microbiology.
