A group of talented young volunteers in Erbil city has launched a campaign titled “Rangala” (Colorful), aimed at removing and eradicating irregular and unsightly writings on the walls of neighborhoods, alleys, and public streets. In this initiative, a student from Cihan University-Erbil participated as a volunteer.
Shapol Shamal Ramzy, a third-year student from the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University-Erbil, joined the campaign to help beautify the city. The activities took place along two streets in Erbil, measuring 150 meters and 120 meters, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 10–12, 2025.
During the campaign, the volunteers, including Shapol, first removed all irregular and unsightly writings from the walls. They then decorated the walls with images of the Kurdistan flag and other artistic designs.
The campaign, organized by the Maple Tree Organization and supervised by the Erbil Municipality Presidency, aims to transform walls from spaces for inappropriate expressions into canvases conveying messages of peace, unity, and the preservation of cultural heritage and identity.
Engineer Karzan Hadi, Mayor of Erbil, also participated in the campaign to support and encourage the volunteers. In his speech, he expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the students and young volunteers for their efforts in enhancing the aesthetic appearance of Erbil city.
