Medical Microbiology Students Participate in Women’s Empowerment Event at Erbil International Hotel
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, fourth- and third-year students from the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University–Erbil participated in a distinguished academic event held at the Erbil International Hotel. Their participation formed part of the University’s ongoing engagement in academic and community-oriented initiatives.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Kazi Forum for Women in Academia to promote and empower women in higher education and scientific research. The forum highlighted the dynamic role of women as educators, researchers, innovators, and leaders within academic institutions. Discussions addressed professional challenges faced by women in academic environments and explored strategies to strengthen their representation in leadership and decision-making roles.
The program was attended by His Excellency Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region, alongside Dr. Laila Qasim Ismael, who supervised the protocol and organizational coordination of the event as a representative of the Ministry. Their presence reflected strong institutional support for advancing gender equity in academia.
The students actively contributed to the organizing team while participating in the sessions and discussions, gaining valuable insight into national efforts to foster inclusive academic leadership. The event concluded with constructive dialogue and professional networking opportunities, further enhancing students’ awareness of the importance of women’s leadership in shaping the future of higher education and scientific advancement
