Minister of Higher Education Honors Cihan University-Erbil Professor for Innovative Scientific Patent
In a distinguished ceremony held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Erbil Polytechnic University Ceremony Hall, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Professor Dr. Abdul-Ilah Thabit Mohammed, an academic staff member of Cihan University-Erbil. This honor recognizes his outstanding achievement in securing a specialized scientific patent, which is a significant milestone for the higher education sector in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
The scientific invention is the formulation of a tooth-whitening powder containing Calcium Nano-oxide. This innovation is the result of a collaborative research project between Professor Dr. Abdul-Ilah Thabit Mohammed from Cihan University-Erbil and Dr. Abbas Ibrahim Hussein from Anbar University. The patent has been officially registered by the Iraqi Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) under the Federal Ministry of Planning, with registration certificate No. 6821. This accreditation provides international scientific credibility for the invention of a product in the field of dentistry.
During the ceremony, the award was received on behalf of the inventor by Dr. Abdul-Salam Atallah Matloob, a lecturer in the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis at Cihan University-Erbil. Dr. Abdul-Salam, who holds a PhD in Chemistry, expressed his pride in this achievement, emphasizing that Cihan University-Erbil consistently provides a supportive environment for researchers to elevate their innovative projects to practical implementation.
