Nutrition and Dietetics Department Students Gained Industry Insights at Das Company for Wheat Products
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil visited Das Company for wheat products for educational purposes. The visit, held under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Huda Sdeq, provided the students with a valuable opportunity to gain practical insights into the wheat processing industry. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Miss Inaz Abdulla, the company supervisor, who guided them through various sections. She provided a detailed description of the production process, quality control measures, and safety standards applied in the industry.
During the visit, the students explored different stages of wheat product manufacturing, starting from selecting and cleaning raw materials to milling, processing, and packaging. They observed the advanced milling techniques used to produce various types of flour and learned about the fortification process, which enhances the nutritional value of wheat-based products. The students also visited the quality control laboratory, where they were introduced to food safety protocols, hygiene measures, and contamination prevention techniques. The company’s experts explained the importance of maintaining high-quality standards to ensure consumer safety and product consistency.
At the end of the visit, the students participated in a discussion session, where they engaged with specialists from the company and asked questions about wheat processing, food production regulations, and industry challenges. This visit provided the students with valuable practical knowledge, helping them to connect their academic studies with real-world applications in the food industry.
