Optometry and Vision Techniques Department: A Visit to Istanbul Optics Center

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, first-year students from the Optometry and Vision Techniques Department at Cihan University – Erbil visited Istanbul Optics Center under the supervision of Assistant Professor Abdulrazzaq Abdul Salam. They were received by Mr. Hawkar Ahmad, a specialist in the field of optics.

The visit featured a comprehensive explanation of the modern vision examination techniques utilized at the center and an introduction to various types of medical and optical lenses. During the visit, they learned the methods of manufacturing eyeglasses, including precise steps for ensuring quality. Additionally, they were introduced to the essential skills in the job market, such as effective communication with patients and time management during daily tasks, understanding clients’ needs, and the delivery of optical consultations.

This visit offered them a unique opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge that they previously learned at the university in real-world practices, while enhancing their understanding of the requirements for working in the fields of optics and vision.
