Physiotherapy Department Students Defeat Dentistry College Students in Thrilling Match
On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the internal university football league at Cihan-Erbil University, supervised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, witnessed a thrilling encounter between the Physiotherapy Department students and the Dentistry College students’ teams.
Both teams had faced significant challenges in previous matches to reach this stage. To advance to the semi-finals, one of them had to emerge victorious in this dramatic showdown.
The match was played at a near-final level, reminiscent of the intensity of the Kurdish Premier League, as both teams fought fiercely for the win. In the first half, after several consecutive attacks on each other’s goals, both sides displayed solid and resilient defenses, resulting in a goalless half.
As the second half began, the attacks continued, and the match grew even more intense. The referee had to pause the game several times to cool the atmosphere and ensure player safety, which remained the top priority. After multiple attempts from both sides, the Physiotherapy team finally broke the deadlock, scoring the first goal and electrifying the stadium.
The intensity of the match escalated, leading the referee to issue yellow and red cards to players from both teams. Two players from the Physiotherapy team were sent off with red cards, leaving them with only four players against six from the Dentistry team in the final six minutes. Despite the numerical advantage, the Dentistry team was unable to score.
In the end, the Physiotherapy Department team held on and secured a 1–0 victory with only four players on the field, qualifying for the semi-finals, where they will face the Media Department team next week.
