President of Cihan University-Erbil, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabar Al-Delawi Holds a Meeting with the Senior Officials of the QS World University Rankings organization in the United States.
Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University–Erbil, held an important meeting with senior leaders of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The organization is one of the world’s leading organizations for university rankings. The event is made as part of the visit by the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the United States—and their participation in the annual NAFSA conference on higher education.
During the meeting, Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, met with Jessica Turner, Executive Director of QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), and Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director for Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia at QS. They discussed several important topics related to QS university rankings, particularly the QS Arab Region University Rankings and the QS World University Rankings.
Professor Al-Delawi, highlighted the university’s past efforts to be included in these rankings and reaffirmed Cihan University’s ongoing commitment to meeting international standards. They also talked about how QS could support the university’s development especially in enhancing academic programs to align with global standards, improving research labs and scientific centers, and using QS as a guide to raise the quality of education and research environments. These discussions were a key part of the meeting and focused on strengthening the university’s global position.
The meeting also included discussions about internationalizing the university. Special attention was given to developing global partnerships, exchanging students and faculty, and aligning academic programs with international standards. At the end, the talks focused on the importance of obtaining international accreditation, which plays a vital role in improving the university’s quality and credibility in education and research at a global level.
