Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, the President of Cihan University-Erbil, received Ms. Holly Vare, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, along with Mr. Nawroz Mardokhi, Programme Adviser at the British Consulate General in Erbil and a graduate of Cihan University-Erbil, who was awarded Honorary Member of the British Empire (MBE) by His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom.

During the meeting held on Monday, September 14, 2026, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, welcomed the visiting delegation and highlighted the significance of the MBE award conferred upon a graduate of Cihan University-Erbil, extending his warmest congratulations to Mr. Nawroz Mardokhi. Subsequently, he provided an overview of the university, its academic programs, international rankings, and strategic vision for institutional internationalization. Within this framework, he referenced the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) established with Plymouth University and the International Foundation Group (IFG) regarding student mobility for training programs, stating: “In 2026, pursuant to this agreement, a cohort of our students was dispatched to the United Kingdom to participate in an intensive training program.” Furthermore, the President underscored the university’s collaboration with the Essex Accreditation Body aimed at securing academic accreditation for the degree programs and departments at Cihan University-Erbil.

For her part, Ms. Holly Vare, outlined the Chevening Scholarship scheme, scheduled for announcement in October. She subsequently emphasized the necessity of engaging in dialogue with the British Council, an organization dedicated to education and the development of collaborative partnerships with British universities and institutes.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation, accompanied by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, toured the university campus and the facilities of the Cultural Center at Cihan University-Erbil.
