Professor Dr. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil Receives British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region
On Monday, 09/14/2026, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, received a delegation from the British Consulate General to the Kurdistan Region, headed by the British Consul General Ms. Holly Vere, on Cihan University-Erbil campus.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding a range of bilateral scientific and academic topics in the presence of David Campbell, Director of International Operations at the UK Home Office (Home Office International Operations), Nawroz Jamshid, Advisor at the Consulate, Dr. Ayad Kakeyi, Vice President of Cihan University-Erbil for Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Abdulsattar Abdulkarim, Vice President of the University for Administrative and Student Affairs;
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, welcomed the visiting delegation and presented a brief overview of the university, its academic programs, the international rankings of Cihan University-Erbil, and the university’s strategy toward internationalizing its academic operations. Within this context, he highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Plymouth University and the International Foundation Group (IFG) for dispatching students to training courses; Professor Al-Delawi stated that under this agreement, a number of students were sent to the UK in 2026 to participate in an intensive training course. He also noted the ongoing cooperation with the Essex accreditation body regarding the accreditation of academic programs and departments across Cihan University-Erbil.
[خق her part, the British Consul General Ms. Holly Vere highlighted the Chevening Scholarship program scheduled for announcement in October. She subsequently emphasized the necessity of engaging in dialogue with the British Council, which works in the field of education, building cooperation, coordination, and relations with UK universities and institutes.
At the conclusion of the visit, the guest delegation, accompanied by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, conducted a tour of the departments within the Cultural Center and the campus facilities of Cihan University-Erbil.
