Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil Visits the Consul General of South Korea in Erbil
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, a high-level delegation from Cihan University-Erbil, led by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of the University, visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Erbil. They were warmly received by Eoon-Gyo SHIM, the Consul General.
During the meeting, attended by Professor Dr. Ayad Hazim Kakai, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Salih Mustafa Salih, Director of the International Relations Office at Cihan University-Erbil, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi congratulated Eoon-Gyo SHIM on his appointment as the new Consul General of the Republic of Korea in the Kurdistan Region. Within this context, both parties discussed developing academic and scientific relations between Cihan University-Erbil and universities in South Korea, aiming to create further coordination in scientific research, educational development, and learning from successful experiences.
For his part, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, after welcoming the visiting delegation, emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific and academic ties between his country’s universities and Cihan University-Erbil. He expressed his readiness to visit Cihan University-Erbil soon to observe the university’s projects and scientific environment firsthand.
In another part of the meeting, the two parties discussed holding a joint international activity, scheduled for the beginning of the new academic year on campus, in coordination with the Korean Consulate. This effort was presented as a step toward introducing university students to Korean culture and technological advancements, as well as strengthening the university’s international relations.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of several proposals for future scientific projects and a reaffirmation of the continuous coordination between the two parties.
