Scientific Visit to Modern Power Lighting Company for Students of the Department of Architectural Engineering

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, third-stage students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a scientific field visit to Modern Power Lighting Company under the supervision of Dr. Esmaeil Ibrahim Khalife, as part of the Building Services (Lighting) course.

The students were warmly received by Mr. Ahmed Sabah Sulaiman, who provided an in-depth overview of the company’s work, focusing on new lighting technologies, modern fixtures, and innovative illumination strategies. He highlighted the significant role of lighting in shaping spatial perception, atmosphere, and functionality in residential, commercial, and public environments.

Mr. Ahmed later introduced various lighting systems and fixtures, including LED technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and smart lighting controls, emphasizing how these systems support contemporary design trends and sustainability requirements. He also highlighted potential career paths in the lighting industry and shared valuable guidance on developing the technical and creative skills essential for future lighting specialists.

During the visit, Dr. Esmaeil Khalife guided the students in observing lighting layouts, fixture placement, and the interaction between light, color, and material texture within interior spaces. He emphasized that mastering lighting design principles is crucial for architectural engineers to create visually comfortable, efficient, and innovative spatial environments.

At the end of the visit, students participated in discussions, took notes, and prepared quick sketches demonstrating their understanding of the lighting concepts presented.
