The Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies at Cihan University-Erbil organized a scientific visit for its second-stage students to The Castle Center for Diagnostic Radiology on Thursday, September 17, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Noor Sami Omar.
The students were welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Diya, a specialist radiologist, who gave them a detailed explanation of the most important devices used in the field of radiological imaging, including the X-Ray machine, the MRI machine, and the Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, in addition to the mammography unit used for the early detection of breast cancer. Dr. Ahmed also addressed the key safety procedures followed when operating these devices and clarified for the students the technical and diagnostic differences between each device and its specific areas of use.
The visit gave students the opportunity to observe firsthand how these devices operate, as they toured the center’s different sections and became familiar with the actual working environment inside medical imaging centers.
Speaking about the importance of the visit, Dr. Ahmed Diya emphasized that such field visits form an essential link between the theoretical knowledge students receive in university lecture halls and the practical, applied side of the medical field, noting that direct exposure to the devices and their operation deepens students’ scientific understanding and better prepares them for the job market in the future.
