Students from the Biomedical Sciences Department and Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Cihan University-Erbil Participated as Authors in the 6th International Conference on Biotechnology in Baghdad
On April 20–21, 2025, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mohammed M. Hussein, a group of outstanding fourth-year students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil participated as authors in the 6th International Conference of the Genetic and Biotechnology Institute, held under the theme “Biotechnologies Towards a Sustainable Future.” The event was organized by the University of Baghdad in collaboration with Al-Farahidi University and took place in the capital city of Baghdad.
The research submitted to the conference focused on the therapeutic potential of natural compounds in the treatment of leukemia, using a benzene-induced rat model. The study evaluated changes in blood parameters and bone marrow histology after administering specific natural supplements. The findings offered valuable insights into alternative therapeutic strategies for managing hematological malignancies.
The conference brought together a wide range of scientists, researchers, and academics from across Iraq and neighboring countries. It served as an important platform for exchanging knowledge and discussing recent advancements in genetics, biotechnology, medical sciences, and environmental applications. The event featured oral presentations, poster exhibitions, and collaborative networking opportunities aimed at fostering innovation and sustainable research practices.
Participation in such a significant scientific forum allowed the students to observe how research is presented and discussed at the national level. It also provided them with exposure to current topics that are shaping the future of biotechnology in Iraq and the region.
