Students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences Explore Creativity Through Ceramic Art Training
Students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cihan University–Erbil participated in a ceramic art training session held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. The workshop was initiated by Huma Khdir Saeed, a fourth-stage student in the department, and aimed to combine artistic expression with scientific creativity.
The training brought together students from the second and third stages, providing them with an opportunity to learn and practice ceramic art under the supervision of Mr. Shukur Abdulla Shared, the supervisor of the Cihan Art Gallery at Cihan University–Erbil.
During the session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of ceramic sculpting and design. They worked hands-on with ceramic clay (also known as stoneware) to craft a variety of artistic objects, including vases, mugs, plates, and other decorative pieces. The participants not only learned the techniques of shaping and molding clay but also explored painting and decorating their creations to reflect individual artistic ideas.
This activity provided students with a chance to experience the intersection between art and science, encouraging them to develop fine motor skills, patience, and attention to detail—qualities essential both in laboratory and artistic work.
