Students from the Department of Law at Cihan University–Erbil Conduct a Scientific Visit to Erbil Courts
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, the Department of Law at Cihan University–Erbil organized a field-based scientific visit for second-year students to the Erbil Court of Cassation.
The visit included an extensive tour of the court’s facilities, during which students visited the Courts of Appeal, First Instance, and Juvenile Courts, as well as the Labor Court and the Lawyers’ Room. This experience provided students with a valuable opportunity to observe the judicial system firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of the specific jurisdictions of each court.
The student delegation was received by Legal Consultant Hawri Reza Abdullah, who guided the students and provided a clear overview of the legal environment. During the visit, Mr. Hawri delivered an informative legal lecture outlining the professional roadmap for law graduates. He explained the procedures for joining the Bar Association, the required professional standards, and the procedural aspects of drafting and filing lawsuits before competent courts. He also highlighted the fundamental differences in handling civil, labor, and juvenile cases.
At the conclusion of the tour, the students were given the exceptional opportunity to attend a public trial session. They observed judicial protocols, the conduct of oral arguments, and the manner in which judges manage sessions and issue legal decisions. The students demonstrated strong engagement by posing insightful questions, which were answered in detail by the consultant.
They emphasized that the visit effectively clarified complex judicial procedures and enhanced their confidence in pursuing future legal careers, thereby supporting their academic and professional development in the service of justice and the law.
