Students from the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis Conduct a Health Outreach Activity at Peramerd Primary School
On Monday, 2nd February 2026, a group of second-year students from the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis carried out a field health activity at Pyramid Primary School, under the escort and guidance of Lab Assistant Ms. Dunia Abdulqadir. The visit focused on performing basic medical screening tests for primary school students using standard laboratory and clinical procedures.
During the activity, the students conducted blood glucose (sugar level) tests, blood pressure measurements, blood grouping, and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments. These tests were carried out carefully and systematically, with clear explanations provided to the school staff and students about the purpose of each test and the meaning of the results.
Notably, during blood glucose screening, one student was found to have an abnormally high sugar level, which was detected for the first time through this activity. The finding was immediately reported to the school administration, and appropriate advice was given regarding further medical evaluation and follow-up, highlighting the importance of early screening and health awareness.
In addition to the clinical work, the students demonstrated a high level of professionalism, teamwork, and responsibility throughout the visit. The group was warmly welcomed by the school principal, Mr. Muhammed Abdullah, who expressed his appreciation for the students’ efforts and the positive impact of the activity on student health awareness.
