Students from the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies Begin Practical Training at Erbil International Hospital
On Monday, October 6, 2025, a group of third-year trainees from the Department of Radiography Techniques at Cihan University–Erbil visited Erbil International Hospital under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Naveed Abdul Karim. They began their practical training there, aligned with their specialization.
Upon their arrival, they were warmly received by Ms. Gullala Abdulwahid, a radiology technician at the hospital. They then commenced their practical training, tailored to their specialization, under the guidance of both the supervising lecturer and the hospital technician. Initially, they were thoroughly introduced to the scientific and technical principles of operating an X-ray machine. In this context, the hospital’s radiology technician explained the device’s components and the functions of its various parts, including the X-ray tube, control panel, and digital imaging systems. Subsequently, the supervising lecturer conducted practical training for them, focusing on patient preparation for examinations, adjusting imaging angles, and selecting the appropriate technical parameters for each type of examination, thereby ensuring the production of accurate and clear radiographic images.
During the training, the students had the opportunity to work with a variety of medical cases, including chest examinations for diagnosing respiratory diseases and limb imaging for detecting fractures or injuries. Emphasis was also placed on adhering to radiation safety standards to protect both patients and healthcare personnel during the imaging process.
At the end of the visit, the supervising lecturer expressed his gratitude to the hospital’s management for their continuous cooperation and support in providing an excellent training environment for the students. He also emphasized the importance of such activities and training in enhancing the students’ skills and preparing them for the job market.
