Students from the Media Department Host a Student Poetry Debate, Igniting Artistic Spark
The Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil has recently transformed a chilly, winter day into a vibrant celebration of poetry by hosting a captivating lecture featuring two of its talented students Zerevan Tamo and Zhikar Amir. These budding poets took center stage and grabbed the attention of a large audience of fellow students and faculty members with their original works.
The event was held on February 23, 2025, in the Conference Hall under the auspices of the department’s ongoing artistic and cultural initiatives. The dual talents of Tamo and Amir demonstrated their commitment to both media studies and literary arts. The atmosphere was charged with emotion, as the young poets recited a diverse range of poems, explored themes of love and patriotism, and drew enthusiastic engagement from the audience.
“This event underscores our department’s commitment to fostering a rich cultural environment,” said a representative from the Media Department. Zerevan Tamo, the author of three published works, namely Kcha Ronahiye, Pashti Te, and Akh, then shared selections from his repertoire. Additionally, Zhikar Amir presented pieces from his collection, Hait u Nit. They are currently working on new publications, further solidifying their place in the region’s literary landscape.
This initiative by the Media Department aims to revitalize the cultural and literary scenes within Cihan University-Erbil, providing a platform for students to express themselves and share their artistic endeavors. This event serves as a powerful reminder of the intersection between media and arts, highlighting the creative potential that exists at the university.
