Students from the Public Administration Department Visit Erbil Municipality Presidency
Under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Raz Azad Jalal, second-year students from the Department of Public Administration at Cihan University-Erbil conducted an academic visit to the Erbil Municipality Presidency on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
They were warmly received by Mr. Rojgar Yusuf, Director of Administrative Affairs at the Municipality Office. Following this, Ms. Shain Wahid, from the Administrative Office, provided the students with a general overview of the municipality’s departments and their operational systems. She then highlighted the administrative and service functions of the municipality, explaining that the Directorate of Municipality is strategically divided into six sub-municipal directorates. This geographical and administrative division ensures that services reach citizens more efficiently. She also clarified that each sub-municipality is responsible for providing a range of municipal services within its jurisdiction, including cleanliness and environmental management, issuing building and commercial permits, and overseeing internal administrative affairs to ensure the continuity and quality of services.
She then elaborated on the structure of the Municipality Directorate, stating: “There are several main departments within the General Directorate of Erbil Municipality, each playing a fundamental role in managing the city and providing services. These departments include the Directorate of Services and Environmental Protection, which oversees the cleanliness and aesthetics of the city; the Directorate of Services, which is responsible for environmental protection and solid waste management; the Legal Affairs Department, which supervises legal procedures and contracts; the Environmental Protection Department, which monitors environmental projects; and the Vehicles Department, which is responsible for managing transport and equipment. Additionally, the Accounting, Finance, and Administration Departments serve as the financial and administrative support pillars of the Municipality Presidency, ensuring the smooth flow of operations”.
Finally, Assistant Lecturer Raz extended her sincere thanks to Ms. Shain and the staff for providing students with valuable information about the work of municipal institutions, the management of public services, and municipal affairs overseen by governmental bodies.
