Students of Interior Design Engineering Department Conduct a Model-Making and Material Board Study at Ramis Sale Center

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, the second-stage students from the Department of Interior Design Engineering at Cihan University – Erbil conducted a scientific visit to Ramis Sale Center, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed.

The students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Mustafa Abdulkhaliq Khalifa, Human Resources representative at Ramis, who provided a detailed explanation about various construction and finishing materials used in interior design applications. He also explained the process of creating material boards, demonstrating how designers select and combine samples such as wood, fabrics, stones, paints, and metals to convey both the visual and tactile qualities of an interior space.

During the visit, Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed emphasized the importance of material boards as a key presentation and communication tool in interior and architectural design, She explained how proper texture coordination, color harmony, and material arrangement within a board can effectively express a complete design concept. She also discussed the value of model making in understanding scale, form, and spatial relationships, encouraging students to apply these concepts practically in their upcoming design projects.

At the conclusion of the visit, students examined real material samples, analyzed aesthetic and functional combinations, and experimented with assembling small sample boards.
