The College of Dentistry Organized an Educational Visit to Hawler Teaching Hospital
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the College of Dentistry organized an educational visit to Hawler Teaching Hospital for its third-year students, under the supervision of Lecturer Amer Ahmed Diab.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Dr. Dler Saber Bayez. He highlighted the importance of such educational initiatives in enhancing the skills of future medical professionals. The visit included a comprehensive tour of various hospital departments, during which Dr. Bayez personally guided the students and provided thorough explanations.
In the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, the students gained valuable insights into complex surgical procedures related to oral and maxillofacial surgery, deepening their understanding of specialized medical interventions. In the Internal Medicine Department, they observed diagnostic and monitoring procedures for chronic internal diseases and learned about their direct and indirect effects on oral and dental health. The visit to the Intensive Care Unit further allowed the students to observe the management of critical cases and understand the importance of rapid decision-making in high-pressure situations.
Throughout the tour, the students were introduced to several real clinical cases, including patients with cerebrovascular accidents and diabetes, and explored how these conditions influence wound healing and oral health. This hands-on experience greatly enhanced their understanding of the connection between general health and oral well-being.
The students expressed deep appreciation for this practical experience, noting that it provided them with a valuable opportunity to observe patient management and the diagnosis of complex clinical conditions firsthand.
At the end of the visit, Lecturer Amer Ahmed Diab extended his sincere gratitude to the hospital administration and Dr. Dler Saber Bayez for their kind reception and productive collaboration. He emphasized that such academic activities are essential in preparing dental students, developing their practical and cognitive skills, and equipping them for competent and professional clinical practice.
