The Department of Anesthesia Techniques at Cihan University-Erbil Organized a Scientific Visit to Paky Hospital
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the Department of Anesthesia Techniques at Cihan University-Erbil organized a scientific visit for second-year students to Paky Hospital, under the supervision of the department’s academic staff.
Upon arrival, the students and accompanying faculty members were received by Mr. Delzar Karim Qadir, the hospital’s Head Nurse. He provided an introductory overview of the hospital’s structure, departments, and their respective functions. The visit commenced with a guided tour through various hospital wards, starting with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which includes several specialized units such as the natural birth unit, an operating room for natural deliveries, and the premature infant care unit.
During the visit, staff nurse Huda Kamaran Mustafa delivered a detailed presentation on the stages of natural childbirth and the procedures for managing various cases within the maternity ward. This gave students a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the practical responsibilities of healthcare professionals in this critical field.
The delegation then proceeded to the Emergency Department, where staff Nurse Narmin Khairallah Qadir received the students and explained the department’s organizational structure, patient intake procedures, and the initial steps in assessing and managing emergency cases. She emphasized the vital roles that nursing and anesthesia teams play in critical care situations.
The visit concluded with an academic seminar held in the hospital’s conference hall, where Dr. Salim Saeed Zangana, General Surgery Specialist and Hospital Director, delivered an insightful lecture. His presentation focused on optimal patient care practices, the importance of integrating modern technology into contemporary medical procedures, and the challenges and opportunities faced by healthcare professionals in light of continuous advancements in medical technology.
This visit is part of a broader series of scientific activities organized by the Department of Anesthesia Techniques, under the supervision of the Cihan University-Erbil administration. These initiatives aim to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application and to prepare students for effective integration into the healthcare labor market.
