The Department of Business Administration Conducted a Scientific Visit to the Coca-Cola Company
On Monday, April 14, 2025, a group of students from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University-Erbil conducted a scientific visit to the Coca-Cola Company in Erbil.
The first- and second-year students, supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir, were officially received by Mr. Omid Mahmoud Ismail, Director of Public Affairs and Communications. At the beginning of the visit, Mr. Rizgar Tayeb Mohammed, an employee of the Safety Department, provided an important safety briefing and trained the students on how to protect themselves and avoid hazardous equipment.
Following the safety session, the students were accompanied by Mr. Omid for lunch. Afterwards, Mr. Omid Mahmoud Ismail delivered a seminar about the company, covering several key topics. He explained that Coca-Cola began its operations in Erbil in 2007 and is a bottling partner with the United States. He also shared that Coca-Cola operates in 200 countries worldwide, with 950 factories and 700,000 employees. The company’s products are sold in 30 million different locations, including markets, restaurants, and other outlets.
He then discussed how the company strives to add value through calmness, teamwork, responsibility, and by encouraging employee participation in decision-making. He also clarified the difference between a customer and a consumer. At the end of the seminar, he highlighted the company’s efforts to increase the number of women in managerial and employee roles.
Following the seminar, Engineer Ahmed Sabir and Mr. Rafiq Tofiq Najim, Quality Supervisor, spoke about the various products the company produces, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Coca-Cola Zero, Cappy, Fanta, and more. They also discussed the ingredients used in Coca-Cola production, such as sugar, water, caramel, caffeine, and carbon dioxide (CO₂).
Later, the students and their supervising lecturer were taken on a tour of the production department, guided by Mr. Shirzad Tahir Omar. During the tour, students had ample opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions about the company’s operations.
At the end of the visit, Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir expressed gratitude to the Coca-Cola staff for their hospitality and support. The students gained valuable insights into the company’s operations and received a gift from the Coca-Cola Company.
